Most dive masks use flat lenses set in a frame, which puts glass some distance from the eye and narrows what you can see without turning your head. The Sphera X uses a single curved lens that wraps across the field of view and sits closer to the face, and the difference in peripheral awareness is the first thing divers notice. Internal volume drops to about 92 cc as a result, and at 150 g the whole mask is light enough to forget you are wearing it.

Low volume has a practical payoff beyond comfort. Less air inside means less to displace when clearing, so a flooded mask empties with a short breath rather than a sustained one, and equalising the mask on descent takes noticeably less effort — which is why the design is popular with freedivers and spearfishers as well as scuba divers. The frameless construction bonds the liquid silicone skirt directly to the lens, cutting bulk and giving the skirt more freedom to conform to different face shapes.

The skirt is soft hypoallergenic liquid silicone with an adjustable textured strap and a buckle system that allows fine adjustment. The low profile reduces drag and pairs well with a hood. Two limitations are real. A single curved lens does not accept prescription inserts the way a two-lens mask does, so divers who need correction should look elsewhere or plan on contacts. And the buckle hardware, while functional, feels lighter-duty than the mechanisms on framed masks — worth handling before you buy.
